Fabrizia is a Dance (Bharatanatyam and Butoh) & Yoga Teacher, and Performer. She brings the therapeutic and holistic qualities of Dance and Yoga to people of all abilities. Fabrizia is also an organic gardener, and has tended the garden at Michael's Folly for decades.
Her love for dance began as a child attending Bharatanatyam classes at a Krishnamurti School in Southern India. Returning to England, she trained with Marianne Balchin, a former student of Ram Gopal.
Having attended classes with Akademi (formerly Academy of Indian Dance), she performed at the Commonwealth Institute, Royal Festival Hall and School of Oriental and African Studies. She was part of a welcome dance for Ravi Shankar at the Barbican Hall and gave a solo recital at the British Museum to celebrate an exhibition of South Indian Art.
Fabrizia has refined her dance technique with Anusha Subramanyam and teachers of the Kalakshetra School in Chennai, most recently under the tuition of Krishna Latha.
Parallel to her practice in Bharatanatyam, Fabrizia has been exploring and performing the experimental Japanese dance form Butoh with Café Reason Dance Group since 1997.
Her interest in Yoga has led her to explore the links between Yoga and Indian Dance, running Yoga classes drawing from Hatha and Kundalini Yoga. She has a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Certificate, and studied teacher training at The Yoga For Health Foundation.
Please do take a look below at her offerings and up to date classes.

I am a creative and dynamic individual with a passion and gift for weaving bodywork and somatic movement through Yoga and Dance. With my intuitive approach to the practises I embody and teach, I bring through healing, nurturing and gentle qualities gained through my decades of expertise in a number of holistic therapeutic modalities. I am dedicated to creating accessibility and empowerment whilst unlocking the potential of individuals and groups.
My passion is to explore a deeper expression of ourselves through nature and the
sensory relationship with the living world, weaving my multilayered inspirations of
Yoga, Dance, Alexander Technique, Somatic movement and poetic visualisations to integrate our listening bodies with the voices of Nature and access a deeper and more authentic essence of movement and expression.
I am also a passionate organic gardener and have tended my 2.5 acres of land
including woodland, vegetable plot and garden all my life. I very much enjoy offering my Strawbale Studio to various practitioners running workshops, ceremonies and events.
Fabrizia's Winter Solstice yoga class was deeply restorative for me - focusing on the sacral chakra, and connecting deeply with Nature too. Fabrizia held such an intuitive and connected space. Thank you so much!
Fabrizia offers the most nurturing, soul recharging yoga at the beautiful, warming Strawbale Studio.
Her flow is like no other I have tried and I always come away feeling full, warm and grounded.
Exercise for the mind, body and soul!
Would highly recommend and could not be without her!
Such a relaxing soothing cradling experience with Fabrizia’s poems interspersing gentle yoga and body movements. Recommending this so highly as a deep relaxation, stress easing and gently mobilisation of the body class , this is not for vigorous physical yoga exercises. Held in the beautiful grounds at Michael’s Folly in Epping green means the relaxation starts as soon as I get out of my car. Wonderful experience!
After attending Fabrizia’s wonderful Indian Temple Dance workshop in October, I felt so much energy flowing and resonating within my personal life and with my little girl in a heart-felt way of living. I also noticed so much more rich imagery coming up in subsequent meditation practises across the week. Thank you Fabrizia for being such a beautiful guiding spirit.I find Fabrizia’s style of teaching embodies a unique blend of self-love, self-compassion and playfulness to explore freely.
I highly recommend any dance/ yoga workshop which Fabrizia offers. She is a true gem, able to expand your perspective on your own body, leaving you feeling both grounded and receptive.
Fabrizia draws from both Hatha and Kundalini traditions to create her very own style of Yoga, bringing in poetry, visualisations and her experience of Alexander Technique. Her gentle restorative classes provide a nurturing ambience and spiritual uplift. She runs weekly Yoga classes at her Strawbale Studio and at
Quaker Meeting House Welwyn Garden City.
Fabrizia makes this stylized ancient Temple dance accessible to people of all abilities while keeping the essence of the form, bringing in Yoga, meditation, and guided imagery. She teaches at her Strawbale Studio, and gives regular performances.
She's a founder member of the experimental dance theatre group Cafe Reason. Butoh deeply influences her Somatic approach to movement, and she offers performances and workshops in Butoh.
I am delighted to be part of Cafe Reasons Diamond Night An informal platform for sharing new ideas, experiments, nd collaborations. For this evening's presentation, the theme is Body Ecologies – exploring our corporeal natures and the stories our bodies have to tell. Some of these new-minted performances will be the first steps towards a large-scale performance next year – examining the body through an array of different lenses: in culture, in nature, in science, and in imagination.
As there is only limited space, it is important to let us know if you are coming, so please email Ayala and Helen in good time. Entry is free, but we are grateful for any donations on the night, as this enables us to pay something to the people who help us.
Doors open 7.15. Latecomers can only be admitted during breaks in the performance.
To be performed as part of the Harcourt Arboretum Spring Fair. This site-specific work is inspired by a flower; the rare and endangered fen violet. It was created by Helen Edwards for the Freshwater Habitats Trust and premiered at Hinksey Heights Nature Trail in 2022. It has been reimagined for performance in the arboretum.
The Spring Fair is open 10 am— 4 pm (last entry 3 pm). It is a ticketed event. For more details and transport/parking options, please visit the arboretum website.
